Testimonials

  • "Lauriel was an exceptional SAT tutor for our son, Avery. From the start, she built a genuine connection with him and helped him develop a thoughtful, analytical approach to tackling test questions. While Avery has always been strong in math, he struggled with how to approach the English section—particularly given his reading comprehension disorder. Lauriel was incredibly patient and effective in teaching him practical strategies to break down questions and think through them methodically. Over the course of several sessions, Avery gained both confidence and the tools he needed to succeed. When he ultimately took the SAT, he scored a 1570, missing only three questions and placing in the 99th percentile. We were absolutely thrilled with the outcome. We are deeply grateful to Lauriel for her ability to connect with Avery and help him achieve such an outstanding result. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a skilled and thoughtful tutor for their child."

  • "I highly recommend Lauriel as an exceptional SAT/ACT tutor. She is professional, responsive, and extremely easy to work with, particularly when it comes to scheduling and communication. She worked with both of my children, each with very different needs. One struggled with severe test anxiety, which she helped alleviate in a way that extended well beyond test prep and positively impacted overall confidence. The other can be easily distracted, and she kept him focused through clear short-term and long-term goals. She is kind, thoughtful, and incredibly smart, and her ability to tailor her approach to each student truly sets her apart."

  • "Lauriel was an exceptional ACT tutor for two of our daughters. She is warm, patient, and incredibly capable, with a wonderful ability to truly connect with her students. Both our girls genuinely looked forward to their sessions, felt understood and supported, and were motivated to put in the work because of how well Lauriel related to them. Not only did they learn a great deal and build confidence, but their strong test results speak for themselves. We are so grateful for Lauriel’s guidance and highly recommend her to any family looking for both excellent instruction and meaningful mentorship."

  • "Lauriel was a wonderful presence for my son as she helped him during a particularly difficult year due to remote schooling, and yet she still always managed to keep him engaged and interested, she worked with him both in structured and unstructured ways to engage him and improve his French. I could hear them chatting away and my child was always prepared and happy to see her weekly. She also was responsive and attuned to his needs and would check-in with us as needed. If I ever needed more tutoring I would be happy to have her back."

  • "Lauriel has been an exceptional tutor for our daughter Maddie, working with her across both English and French. She quickly built a strong connection and created a supportive, engaging environment that helped our daughter thrive even with difficult tests like the SHSAT and ISEE. Lauriel has a wonderful ability to break down complex material, reinforce good habits, and build confidence while keeping students challenged. We’ve seen clear improvement not only in her academic performance, but in how she approaches her work overall. Lauriel is thoughtful, patient, and highly effective, and we would strongly recommend her to any family seeking a resourceful, innovative, and impactful tutor."

  • "Lauriel worked with my 13 year old daughter as she prepared for her various auditions as part of the application process to high school drama programs within the city. Although our daughter is shy and reserved (not your typical theater kid!) Lauriel knew just how to draw out and engage with her. I can honestly say the sessions with Lauriel were a turning point for this child, who brought a newfound confidence to her performances and to the way she carries herself in the world. Kind, smart and so knowledgeable about performing arts, we will definitely seek out Lauriel again to coach her through the next role."

  • Remote $120/hour

    In-Person $180/hour

**In-person restrictions may apply due to location.

  • For the SAT/ACT, I recommend preparing for at least 4 months before the first real test. I suggest that students plan to take their test 2-3 times, as they have the option to “superscore.”

For ISEE/SSAT/SHSAT, I recommend beginning prep no later than late August/early September. For accelerated learning or to fill content gaps, I suggest starting prep over the summer.

**NOTE: Test prep is not a one-size-fits-all. Timelines may vary depending on the student’s needs.

  • On average, for SAT/ACT/SHSAT students, I recommend one 90-minute session per week.

For ISEE/SSAT students, I suggest one 75-minute session a week, although some may prefer two 60-minute sessions.

For accelerated learning or to fill content gaps, I suggest multiple weekly sessions.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, I ask that you please notify me with at least 24 hours notice. Any lessons canceled after that time must be paid for in full.
